Ron F. Hochstein, P.Eng
President, CEO & Director
Ron has a wealth of experience in the mining industry. He has worked for the Lundin Family directly and as a consultant for over 20 years. He became President and CEO of Lundin Gold in 2014 and was instrumental in the acquisition of the Fruta del Norte gold project. Prior to becoming President and CEO of Lundin Gold, Ron served as President and CEO of Denison Mines Corp. for seven years, having joined a predecessor company to Denison in 1999. Earlier in his career, he was a Project Manager with Simons Mining Group and worked at Noranda Minerals as a metallurgical engineer. Ron has a B.Sc. in metallurgical engineering from University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. He is also a director of Denison Mines Corp. and Josemaria Resources Inc.
Executive Vice President, CFO
Alessandro is a Chartered Professional Accountant of British Columbia with over 30 years of experience in the resource industry and finance, having worked both in North America and Europe. A member of the senior management team at the Lundin Group of Companies since 2007, he joined Lundin Gold in 2016 and was previously CFO of Orca Gold Inc. Prior to that, Alessandro served as CFO for Red Back Mining Inc., a gold mining company with two African operations that was acquired by Kinross for $9.2 billion in 2010. He is also a director of Filo Mining Corp and Group Eleven Resources Inc.
Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary
Sheila joined Lundin Gold as Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary in February 2015 and is responsible for overseeing Lundin Gold's legal affairs. She has 20 years of business focused legal experience, regularly advising on range of areas from corporate and commercial transactions, financings and strategic relationships to board activities, compliance and corporate governance. Prior to Lundin Gold she was Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Denison Mines Corp., a position which she held since 2004. Sheila graduated from Queen's University with a B.A.(H) in 1990 and then received her LL.B. from Queen's University in 1993. She is a member of both the British Columbia and Ontario Bars and has a Global Competent Boards designation (GCB.D).
Vice President, Projects
Dave has over 40 years of experience in the mining, engineering and construction industry on a variety of global projects leading both the Owners and EPCM teams. Prior to joining Lundin Gold, he was with Freeport-McMoRan Inc. as the Project Director for the highly successful US$4.6 billion Cerro Verde Expansion Project in Peru. Prior to moving to Freeport, Dave was the General Manager, Project Development for South America for Xstrata Copper (now Glencore plc) based in Santiago, Chile. His experience covers all facets of project management for all types of mining projects ranging from managing pre-feasibility studies to large EPC/EPCM projects.
Vice President, Business Sustainability
Nathan has extensive experience in the mining industry in implementing sustainable development strategies at the local and national levels. He spent several years leading AngloGold Ashanti's sustainability efforts in the Americas, where he developed new sustainability approaches and governance structures and advised operations on community relations, local government relations, human rights and communications. In addition, Nathan worked with Rio Tinto Alcan where he integrated sustainable development principles across Rio Tinto Alcan's business development practice. He also spent several years with the World Economic Forum where he worked closely with leaders from business, academia, and government to identify and address key economic, social, and environmental issues facing the sector. Nathan has also worked with the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank Group) guiding extractive industry clients on the structure and implementation of sustainable development strategies. He received a B.Sc. in biology from McGill University, a Masters in International Affairs from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a post-graduate Certificate in Sustainability Leadership from Cambridge University.
Vice President, Human Resources
Iliana has over 20 years of experience in human resources working in multi-cultural environments and diverse industries in South America, United States, Middle East and Africa. She previously held the position Human Resources Director for Lundin Gold and has been a key member of the management team involved in the start-up of operations in Ecuador. Prior to joining Lundin Gold, Iliana held various management positions with Kinross Gold Corporation and Occidental Oil & Gas Corporation. She has recognized experience in developing and implementing human resources systems and strategies focused on business development, management of organizations with diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalization of the workforce through articulated training and succession plans. Iliana’s education is in human resources management and holds an MBA, with a major in Human Resources, from Universidad San Francisco de Quito. She is also the Vice President of Ecuador’s Women in Mining chapter.
Vice President, Finance
Chester has held positions of increasing responsibility in a number of publicly traded companies during his career, including three years at Western Coal Corp., where he served as Manager, Financial Reporting & Treasury at the time of its $3.3 billion acquisition by Walter Energy Ltd. in 2011. From 2011 to 2013, he served as Financial Controller for Lucara Diamond Corp. and CFO of NGEx Resources Inc. from 2014 to 2016. Prior to his involvement in the mining industry, Chester spent three years in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers, working with a diverse client base both in Canada and internationally. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a B. Comm. (Accounting) and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.
